Silent Short Film: Crash on a New Planet
A dialogue-free short film told in nine visual shots. The protagonist is a lean woman in her early 30s with shaved dark hair, wearing a weathered ivory pressure suit with orange emergency stripes. Her companion is a waist-high spherical AI rover with three insect-like stabilizer legs, a matte white shell, and a single cyan optic lens. Visual style throughout: photo-realistic 35mm cinema, tactile production design, muted teal-and-amber color grade, and atmospheric volumetric lighting.
SHOT 1 — EXT. ORBIT / ALIEN ATMOSPHERE — A scarred survey ship spins out of control above an unknown planet. Blue fire licks across the hull as it is dragged into a violent, cloud-choked descent.
SHOT 2 — INT. COCKPIT — Warning lights strobe across the cabin. The protagonist fights the controls while her AI rover locks its legs into the deck. Through the fractured windshield, mountains surge upward.
SHOT 3 — INT. WRECKED SHIP — Silence after impact. Smoke drifts through the ruined cabin. The protagonist hangs in her harness, then stirs. The rover reboots, its cyan lens flickering alive and scanning the darkness.
SHOT 4 — EXT. CRASH SITE — The hatch groans open. The protagonist steps out with the rover at her side and sees a brutal landscape: black stone, towering fungal spires, and a green sky veined with lightning.
SHOT 5 — EXT. WRECKAGE FIELD — Working in silence, they salvage what they can. She hauls batteries, water packs, and a folded solar sheet from the wreck while the rover scans the air and marks a safe path across unstable ground.
SHOT 6 — EXT. ROCK SHELTER / NIGHT — Under a makeshift lean-to of ship plating, the pair endure the planet’s first night. Bioluminescent fog rolls in. Shapes move beyond the light. The rover shifts into guard mode as the protagonist grips a cutting torch.
SHOT 7 — EXT. RIDGE AT DAWN — At first light, they climb a ridge carrying a damaged beacon core and the folded solar sheet. Below them, the crash site looks tiny against the endless hostile terrain.
SHOT 8 — EXT. RIDGE SUMMIT — They deploy the solar sheet and patch power into the beacon. It sputters, fails, then catches. A column of pale light punches into the clouds while the rover locks the array against the wind.
SHOT 9 — EXT. RIDGE / SKY — High above, a distant object glints in orbit. The protagonist and rover stand side by side, tiny but unbroken, as the first real sunrise spreads across the planet.
